  On December 30, 2009, senior Molly Ernst made history for Assumption by becoming the twelfth rocket basketball player to score 1,000 points during her four- year high school career.

     “I figured it was coming up but I was surprised when my coach told me that I made my 1,000th point,” Ernst stated.  As a college bound athlete, Ernst looks to have the same success at Belmont University next fall. “It’s every basketball player’s goal to reach a milestone like this,” she stated.

      Ernst was awarded an honorary “1,000 Point Club” basketball before playing Mercy on Jan. 6.

      Many underclasswomen, including sophomore Aubrey Parsley, look up to Ernst as an inspiration and role model – especially on the basketball court. “It was cool to be able to play with someone like [Ernst] that has so much talent,” Parsley said, “playing against her at practice and watching her play makes me want to play harder too.”
